Minimally invasive gynaecology
Laparoscopy and hysteroscopy
Laparoscopy and hysteroscopy can help diagnose or treat selected gynaecological concerns through smaller access points or through the natural opening of the cervix. Whether either approach is appropriate depends on your symptoms, examination, imaging, goals and the balance of likely benefits and risks.
- Review your scan, diagnosis and treatment options
- Understand when observation or medicines may still be reasonable
- Plan investigations, referral or surgery with informed consent
What to expect
Time to discuss your symptoms, reports and options.
A consultation begins with your concerns. We then review your history and reports, discuss what they may mean and agree on the next step.
Clinical assessment
Understand what is urgent, what can wait and why a particular next step is being advised.
Your priorities
Care considers fertility goals, family plans, lifestyle, comfort and long-term health.
More than one option
When relevant, we discuss observation, medicines and surgery, with the benefits and limitations of each.
Follow-up
Know what to monitor, when to review and which warning signs need earlier assessment.
During your consultation
We start with what is bothering you.
Your history, examination and reports help guide the recommendation. Your questions, preferences and circumstances are part of the discussion.
Understand the concern
Your symptoms, history, previous reports and goals are considered together.
Explain what matters
Findings, uncertainties, options and red flags are discussed in patient-friendly language.
Plan the next step
You leave with a practical plan for treatment, tests, review or referral when needed.

Common questions
Helpful answers before you book.
When should I see a gynaecologist for irregular periods?
Arrange a consultation if your periods are persistently irregular, absent for three months when you are not pregnant, unusually heavy, increasingly painful or associated with symptoms such as dizziness, excessive facial hair, sudden weight change or difficulty conceiving. New severe pain or very heavy bleeding needs earlier assessment.
When should a couple seek fertility guidance?
Evaluation is commonly considered after 12 months of regular unprotected intercourse when the woman is under 35, or after 6 months when she is 35 or older. Earlier review can be appropriate with irregular cycles, known endometriosis, previous pelvic surgery, recurrent pregnancy loss or concerns affecting either partner.
Does every ovarian cyst or fibroid need surgery?
No. Many cysts and fibroids can be observed or managed without surgery. The decision depends on the type, size, symptoms, change over time, age, fertility goals and any concerning clinical or imaging features.
When is hysteroscopy considered?
Hysteroscopy may be advised to look inside the uterine cavity when evaluating selected cases of abnormal bleeding, polyps, certain fibroids, fertility concerns, recurrent pregnancy loss, intrauterine adhesions or a retained device. It is recommended only after individual assessment.
Can I discuss a scan before deciding about surgery?
Yes. Bring the scan report and images if available, previous test results, medication list and a brief symptom timeline. A surgical consultation can clarify whether more evaluation, observation, medical treatment or a procedure may be appropriate.
